The Silence of the Rains: October 2015
Fall… the once green leaves turn brown yellow red and gold like fire and return to the earth… the rain gods finally shed their tears… and we cozy up in the cabin by the wood burning stove with hot chocolate and children, laughter and friends… Fall.
I HEART RSR: I took this photo through the steamy misty morning kitchen window because I have now truly fallen in love with the Land.
BUBBLES, UMBRELLAS AND LOG-ROLLING IN THE MORNING MYSTERY MIST…
ONCE UPON A STAR: Our future matriarch (Violet) waving her magic wand… ONE UMBRELLA, ONE LOVE: Lev, (4 today) and Skyla, 5 bond under a green sun brolly in the drizzly rain… GIRL POWER!: Neva, 7, Violet, 6 and Skyla 5 rolling a giant log so they can stand on it to swing on the rope hanging from the walnut tree. Go girls! BOY POWER!: Gregory gets his mojo on “Jojo”—our new, generously donated tractor driver machine heavy stuff carrying vehicle. Thank you!!!
COZY IN THE CABIN, KIDS ‘N CONVERSATION…AND YUMMY, GUSHY, FLOATY, MUSHY MARSHMALLOWS…
HOT CHOCOLATE PARTY!: Say no more! Life just doesn’t get better than floaty melty marshys in hot chocci by the fire when you’re 3 (Coda), 4 (Lev), 5 (Skyla), 6 (Violet) and 7 (Neva)! ESTROGEN TEA PARTY!: What happens when you put three women in a room together with a hot cuppa and sweet gossip? … answer… THIS! GETTING STUFF DONE ON A RAINY DAY:
OWL HOUSE INSTALLING… WOOD CHOPPING… ACORN CRUSHING… GUPPY FISHING… TRACTOR RIDING… ORCHARD ADVENTURING…
“ANOTHER DAY, ANOTHER OWL HOUSE”: The time has come to put up the owl houses… in the rain… there goes Ben and Gregory off to scale the pine trees… inspired by Gregory’s connection to and identification with Owl. Pssst some like to call Papa G.. the Owl… but only at night. HOO-HOO: Hoo is that up in the tree? Is it a bird? Is it a plane? Is it an owl? No, it’s Papa G! Why the owl houses for the owls? I asked. They eat the rats, said the Owl. “BEFORE ENLIGHTENMENT CHOPPING WOOD… AFTER ENLIGHTENMENT CHOPPING WOOD”—(quote is based on a famous Zen proverb…): Shani takes axe to wood for the first time ever and loves ever second of the earthy adrenaline rush… while kids stand by… awaiting their turn… to become enlightened 😉 NATURE’S MARBLES: Give a kid an acorn…. and he’ll play with it like a toy. Because it’s better than toy. It fell from a tree… that grew in the ground… that got watered by the rain… GUPPY FISHING: Two little girls in pink and purple coats as happy as can be fishing together for guppies in Dragonfly Pond… (It just doesn’t get sweeter than this moment) … oh wait!!! It does get sweeter… two big boys as happy as can be riding a tractor loaded with tool stuff too heavy to carry… heading for the barn. (Thanks for chasing after and catching this shot Michael S!) ORCHARD ADVENTURING: … leading our guests on a visit to our little baby fruit trees in the rain…
circling… collecting … climbing…
MAN O’ PEACE: Is Papa G leading Bible hour? Nope. It’s RSR circle time inspired by Tamera’s Love School in Portugal. BIRDS OF A FEATHER…”HUNT” ALONE: John returns from the woods with a handful of owl feathers he found. The machete is misleading… the owl was not slain but not found. PERCHING IN THE PINES: Neva, 7 and Violet, 6 fearlessly foraging for fun high, high, high up in the branches of a pine tree… LOTUS FLOWER OF LOVE: … All we need is love… and … Honesty, Flow, Presence, Creativity, Collaboration, Trust, Turn-on, Kindness and Groundedness… We LOVE YOU RSR!
