Worship of the Rain Gods: March Equinox, 2015
Ranchers, beloveds, tribe-sharers, stewards, seekers, land-Ladies and land-Lords I, Shani, your self-elected and collectively approved resident RSR blogger and documentarian entitled Mistress of Propaganda by Papa G welcome you to our blog!
It is my love of words, being in the creative flow and witnessing each individual’s uniqueness that inspires me to want to create this living, lasting, real-time documentation that includes a narrative that is both visually alive and kicks ass using the audacious powers and playfulness of the written word.
This blog will serve as a platform to capture our moments: the sacred and silly, humorous and heartfelt, epic and everyday. It is a space to track our “common grounding” as an intentional community, our progress and process as we envision, create and build projects with a shared purpose to re-frame the conventional, bust the norm and live as the conscious, creative, in-love, in-service, free-spirits that we are born to be on 80 acres of California country aka “The Land” where:
“Nothing is private, yet everything is sacred.”
Shani, Mistress of Propaganda, digging for the dirt, ready to uncover the next big scoop
The lay of the land
Our March gathering on The Land–first gathering of 2015–hosted by Carlin, in loving Worship of the Rain Gods, turned out to be a real work weekend. As guests dropped out, members dropped-in to an intimate members-only weekend of physical labor of love type of worship where we dug our hands into the wet earth lightly kissed by the Rain Gods and sunk our spades into the soil nurturing, loving, touching Pachamama and one another!
Michael and Gregory, aka Papa G, lay down “redneck carpeting” in honor… Michael: “Hey, look what I just found!” Gregory: “Hmm… Bertram’s?”
Michael borrowed Bryan’s pick-up truck, fulfilling his long-time dream of being the kind of guy who drives a pick-up truck. He made a pit stop at the Fairfax house to pick up bricks for the outdoor fire pit and arrived sporting a spanking new-used stove with functional oven, that he picked up on the streets of Santa Rosa, so that we can now bake bread, cook roasts and grill stuff. Woohooo! Go oven!
Michael aka honey badger, for whom no hard work is too much, proudly introduces his right-hand woman dressed in white whom he picked up on the streets of Santa Rosa… …Our very own Mz “Americana”… (yes, it’s the actual brand name)
big project: Building the fire pit ground
Saturday morning kicked off with Michael and Christopher whipping out their man tools, pick axes and rakes, and smoothing down the soil, creating a strong foundation in prep for the bricklaying to follow. Discussion abounded as to the shape of the foundation–some said round, some said oval but in the end the good old four-sided square was the simplest and most effective way forward. So a square-bricked foundation it is! Thank you, men, for sparing us muddy boots and lopsided camping chairs around the fire pit on star studded nights!

El Presidente seated in her outdoor un-cubicled “office”planning the meeting agenda beneath the shady trees while the kiddies made art with glittery purple glue and freshly picked orange flowers and Sister Sige, took the lead and her shovel, among the yellow florets, in her cowgirl hat and black gumboots, on the de-thistling project in the veggie garden, which was a huge hit, an addiction for some, especially Brother Eric who was high and shirtless on his bullet-proof coffee bonanza.

other pertinent projects
Seeing as it was the beginning of spring, Sister Sonya, El Presidente, initiated a group spring cleaning and the entire front porch got overhauled as cobwebs were swept away and order was instilled. Eric and Bertram (who took to this like no other) removed moss and vegetation from the roof before staining it and Papa G sealed the roof. Sergio single-handedly revamped the mauve velvety cushions in the cabin with built-in wooden headboards. And the start of an extended outdoor kitchen was in the making with a new stove that Sister Melani skillfully tended, in her school girl cum heroine (with an ‘e’) chic frock, frying sausages.

Caveat: *I have one stellar quote for now… but I got them hawk “eyes” when it comes to my ears and I’ll be getting many more from every one of you over the months, years, lifetimes! :)*
“If it’s not this, then it’s just status quo rents… like my parents… just shoot me!

in closing: “Happy Together”
“I can’t see me loving nobody but YOU for all my life… When you’re with me, baby, the skies will be blue for all my life…”
PS. Listen closely to hear the comment “You is plural…” at nine seconds. 😉 Say no more… X Here’s to Running Springs Ranch, being happy together, to blue skies and to loving all of YOU!
